About HIMCM

The High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling (HiMCM) is an international mathematical modeling competition organized by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP), a nonprofit organization in the United States. The competition is open to high school students from around the world.

Founded in 1999, HiMCM has received support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).

HiMCM is designed to give students the opportunity to work as team members while developing their modeling, problem-solving, and writing skills.

Teams from participating schools use mathematics to model real-world problems and present their results in a written report.
