HiMCM 2026 opens at 3:00 pm EST on Wednesday, November 4. All work stops at 8:00 pm EST on Tuesday, November 17, and the solution PDF must reach COMAP by 9:00 pm EST the same day. Here is the last-mile checklist.
Before the window opens
Registration closes at 2:00 pm EST on November 4 – after that, no new teams. Confirm every roster is final in the advisor account: once the problems are read, membership cannot change. Advisors log in at 3:00 pm to view the problems; COMAP recommends printing both for the team.
During the window
Teams may use any inanimate resource – books, websites, software, data – but may not discuss the problem with anyone outside the team, including the advisor. No posting or sharing anything about the problem or your solution anywhere; COMAP monitors the internet during the contest. Cite every source as you go, and log any AI use: the model used and what it was used for, with inline citations.
The submission file
One PDF, in English, 12-point type minimum: summary sheet first, then up to 24 more pages – 25 total, including the table of contents, references, and appendices. The Report on Use of AI goes after the 25 pages and is not counted. Control number and page number on every page; no student, advisor, or school names anywhere. Name the file with your control number – for example 1234.pdf – and keep it under 20 MB.
Submitting and verifying
Submit once through COMAP’s official online form using the team control number, advisor ID, and problem choice. Do not wait until the last minute, and send only one copy. Changes after the 8:00 pm freeze are rule violations. One to two days after the close, the advisor should log in to verify COMAP received the solution – status for most papers posts within 24 hours.
Every requirement above comes from COMAP’s official instructions – the complete annotated version is in our 2026 rules guide. Good luck, and defend every choice.
